Challenges We Help You Overcome

About Behavioral Science Institute

The Behavioral Science Institute (BSI) is a collaborative group practice founded by licensed psychologists and Rutgers alumni: Drs. Michael Friedman and Liza Pincus. Our team is dedicated to delivering evidence-based therapeutic interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). We provide services for children, adolescents, adults, and families.

Central to our practice is a commitment to compassionate, client-centered care. We integrate the latest advancements in psychological research and innovative technologies to ensure the highest quality treatment. Our approach is tailored to each individual, utilizing ongoing, in-depth assessment and case conceptualization that allows us to address unique needs and foster meaningful, lasting change. Whether you are seeking support for anxiety, mood disorders, behavioral challenges, or other mental health concerns, our team is here to provide thoughtful, empathetic care every step of the way.

Currently, we offer in-person sessions in Jersey City and Paramus, NJ, and White Plains, NY.

We also offer limited telehealth services for clients living in New York, California, New Jersey, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.

Aside from our limited number of slots for Aetna patients, do not accept insurance directly and do not participate on insurance panels. Payment is made by the client at the time of the service. However, many insurance plans will reimburse you a percentage of the bill under your out-of-network benefits. We can provide you with a receipt for services (a “superbill”) that includes all the information you need to submit a claim to your insurance company.
