Serena Moghaddas, B.A., is the patient intake coordinator and administrative assistant at BSI. She is currently completing her doctorate in clinical psychology at the Rutgers University School of Applied and Professional Psychology (GSAPP). She is receiving specialized training in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). As an emerging psychologist, she is primarily interested in working with BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ individuals with severe psychopathology and self-injurious behaviors, as well as supporting individuals struggling with disordered eating and substance abuse.
Serena previously completed her undergraduate degree at Rutgers University - New Brunswick in three years, leaving with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in Sociology and Women’s and Gender Studies. Following graduation, she worked as a Clinical Research Coordinator at Massachusetts General Hospital. Working on the inpatient adolescent unit, she and her team employed stress-based tasks to examine how markers of executive function, sleep irregularities, and interpersonal stressors predict short-term risk for suicidality among at-risk adolescents.
After completion of her doctorate degree, Serena is looking forward to becoming a licensed psychologist focused on bridging the gaps in culturally- and identity-affirming care, expanding access to mental health resources for marginalized communities.
