Psychological Assessments
We provide comprehensive psychological evaluations for children and adolescents to better understand learning, attention, behavior, emotional functioning, and developmental concerns. Our assessments are thorough, individualized, and designed to provide clear answers and practical recommendations for clients and their families.
Psychological Evaluations
A psychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to better understand a child’s emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning. These evaluations help clarify diagnoses, identify underlying concerns, and provide guidance for treatment and support.
A psychological evaluation may be recommended if a child is experiencing persistent emotional or behavioral difficulties, such as anxiety, depression, attention problems, social challenges, or significant changes in mood or behavior.
Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) Evaluations
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by an ongoing pattern of inattention, hyperactivity, and/or impulsivity that interferes with daily functioning.
An ADHD evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to determine whether a child’s difficulties with attention, impulse control, or activity level are consistent with ADHD. The evaluation also helps identify other factors that may be affecting a child’s behavior, learning, or emotional functioning.
An ADHD evaluation may be recommended if a child frequently has difficulty sustaining attention, following instructions, staying organized, completing schoolwork, sitting still, or managing impulses. These challenges may appear at home, at school, or in social situations.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) Evaluations
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder affecting brain development, particularly showing deficits in the areas of communication, cognitive functioning, and social skills.
An ASD evaluation determines whether a child meets criteria for autism and attempts to better understand their developmental strengths and needs. These evaluations examine areas such as social communication, behavior, language development, learning abilities, and emotional functioning.
An evaluation may be recommended if a child shows signs such as delays in language development, difficulty with social interaction, repetitive behaviors, sensory sensitivities, or challenges with transitions and routines. Parents, pediatricians, teachers, or therapists often refer children for evaluation when these concerns are present.
Major components of the evaluation include an examination of clinical history and comprehensive treatment planning through the use of interviews and standardized assessments.
Learning Disability Evaluations
A learning disability evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to understand why a child may be struggling academically and to determine whether a specific learning disorder is present. These evaluations examine how a child learns and processes information, as well as their strengths and challenges in key academic areas such as reading, writing, and mathematics.
An evaluation may be recommended if a child is having persistent difficulty with reading, writing, spelling, or math despite appropriate instruction. These assessments can help identify learning disorders such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, or dyscalculia, as well as other factors that may affect academic performance.
Emotional & Behavioral Evaluations
An emotional and behavioral evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to better understand a child’s emotional well-being, behavior patterns, and relationships with caregivers. These evaluations help identify factors that may be contributing to challenges such as anxiety, mood changes, behavioral outbursts, or difficulties with emotional regulation.
An evaluation may be recommended when a child is experiencing persistent concerns such as anxiety, depression, behavioral outbursts, social difficulties, or significant changes in mood or functioning. These evaluations can help determine effective treatment approaches, such as Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT).
Neuropsychological Evaluations
A neurodevelopmental evaluation is a comprehensive assessment designed to understand how a child’s brain development may be affecting their behavior, learning, attention, and emotional functioning. These evaluations help identify conditions that emerge during childhood development and may impact a child’s daily functioning at home, in school, and in social settings.
Neurodevelopmental evaluations often assess concerns related to attention, executive functioning, learning, social communication, and motor or vocal behaviors such as tics. These evaluations can help clarify whether conditions such as ADHD, ASD, or other developmental concerns may be present.
These evaluations consist of an intake session, assessment sessions, a feedback session, and a school feedback meeting for school-aged children
